What is HdR? & This can't be a job.
Hospice d’Rhone has come on gone here on the Central Coast. For those of you who don’t know what HdR is all about it here’s a quick rundown. A number of Paso Robles wine makers and grape growers realized a few years back, and are continuing to realize, that we have a pretty sweet terroir for Rhone varietals. To celebrate this Garretson Wine Co. and company began putting on HdR. What started out small has grown and grown and grown to what is now an international event with wine lovers from all the Rhone regions of the world. It’s big and busy and tasty.
For this year’s festivities I moved out of the restaurant scene and into the winery scene. It was a smart switch. While all of the revelers were busying themselves with HdR events the tasting room was a ghost town. Over staffed and under patroned we took to the patio with a bottle of no oak, no ML chardonnay, also known as the Naked. Because we are a cooperative group we traded off serving the few tourists who were unaware of the big to do. This rewarded us with hour stretches spent kicked back with wine in one hand and pizza in the other. Lounging has never tasted so good. Did I mention we got paid?
